Tip #22 for political activists: Double check your party affiliation before you go on national television.

Plenty of Republicans have made intelligent cases against the recent immigration bill. Conservatives set on bringing about change are up in arms--and already attracting the attention of the influential elected officials on both sides of the issue.

The only way real headway will be made, however, is if those who speak out against the bill are grounded in reason, practicality, and truth.

Right now, at least one voice isn't.

Take Michelle Dellacroce, for example. She appeared on Neil Cavuto's "Your World" on May 24 as a representative of Mothers Against Illegal Aliens.

Her concern for the state of Arizona was real; her passion was strong. She expressed her disappointment in the Republican party--and said that she doesn't "want people saying things just so that they can get elected." She inferred that those who aren't serious about rejecting any kind of amnesty will lose her vote--and the votes of many other concerned Arizonans. She claimed that Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona flip-flopped his immigration stance and she even cut her voter card on the air.

"...And now, here I am, cutting up my little card. Here's my Republican party card. I don't wanna be a Republican."

Seems effective, right?

There's just one problem. She's not a registered Republican. (Read more here.)

At best, she was stupidly mistaken--and at worst, she was being deliberately deceitful. I don't want those chosen to speak on behalf of any grassroots conservative movement to be either of those things. This doesn't do the Party as a whole any favors.
